Lake Country Lutheran has gone 9-1 against Living Word Lutheran recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Lake Country Lutheran took a loss when they played away from home last Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over Brookfield Academy. The Lightning might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by nine runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Jack Poellot, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. Gabe Snyder was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Lake Country Lutheran always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Living Word Lutheran earned a 12-8 victory over Johnson Creek on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Timberwolves.
Easton Oliver made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Gavin LaPerriere was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. He also scored three runs, which is notable because Living Word Lutheran is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Gavin Weissenburger, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Lake Country Lutheran pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Living Word Lutheran, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lake Country Lutheran has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Living Word Lutheran struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
