Softball Game Preview: Shelley Russets vs. Bonneville Bees

For the second straight game, Shelley will face off against Bonneville. The Russets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bees at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Shelley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.

On Wednesday, Shelley made easy work of Bonneville and carried off a 10-2 victory. The Russets have beaten the Bees the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bees has come to flipping the script.

Macie Winder spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on seven hits.

At the plate, Carlie Hurd was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four runs, two triples, and three RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Vienna Oats, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Shelley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.

Shelley's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Bonneville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-8.

Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Shelley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Bonneville struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
