Baseball Recap: American Canyon Comes Up Short

American Canyon extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 5-9. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Casa Grande Gauchos. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gauchos this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-3 on Monday.

Royce Hall was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

As for Casa Grande, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games.

On Casa Grande's side, they got a great performance from Miles Nicholas as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Nicholas has posted since back in March of 2025.

At the plate, Ian Flores was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Franco Bernardini, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, American Canyon will be playing in front of their home fans against Petaluma at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. As for Casa Grande, they will venture away from home to face off against Tamalpais at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
