Volleyball Game Preview: Discovery Canyon Thunder vs. Eaglecrest Raptors

The Discovery Canyon Thunder will square off against the Eaglecrest Raptors at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Discovery Canyon is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last nine games.

Discovery Canyon is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Fossil Ridge 3-2.

Meanwhile, Eaglecrest faced Arvada West in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Raptors put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 3-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raptors.

Discovery Canyon's record now sits at 20-4. As for Eaglecrest, their record is now 21-4.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's game: Discovery Canyon has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.4 aces per game. However, it's not like Eaglecrest struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.1 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Discovery Canyon was able to grind out a solid win over Eaglecrest in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, winning 3-1. Will the Thunder repeat their success, or do the Raptors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
