Baseball Game Preview: Midland Park Panthers vs. Waldwick Warriors

Midland Park and Waldwick are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Panthers will welcome the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Midland Park has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

While Midland Park's win against New Milford wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Knights 4-2. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won eight in a row.

The team relied heavily on Ryan Fleming, who went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Anthony Carrea was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Waldwick was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Fort Lee.

Waldwick's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Midland Park, their victory bumped their record up to 13-4-1.

Midland Park came out on top in a nail-biter against Waldwick in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 2-0. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
