Football Recap: Highlands Comes Up Short

After flying high against Elite last Friday, Highlands came back down to earth. The Scots took a blow against the Woodland Christian Cardinals on Friday, falling 58-20. While losing is never fun, the Scots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 806th, while the Cardinals are ranked 224th).

Although Highlands took the loss, they still got scores from Frank Cady, Jonathan Rodriguez, and Caleb Nelson.

Woodland Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isaiah Hunt, who threw for 272 yards and one TD, and also punched in one score on the ground. Oliver Holleman helped Hunt out on the ground, rushing for 72 yards and one touchdown on only six carries, while also picking up 51 receiving yards.

Highlands' defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Woodland Christian, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Highlands didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 42-6 win against Esparto on the 30th. As for Woodland Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 53-0 victory against Golden Sierra on the 30th.
