Preview: Bridgehampton Killer Bees vs. Shelter Island Islanders
Bridgehampton is 8-2 against Shelter Island since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Bridgehampton Killer Bees will look to defend their home court against the Shelter Island Islanders at 6:00 p.m. Bridgehampton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully Shelter Island likes a good challenge.
Bridgehampton pushed their score all the way to 58 two weeks ago, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 69-58 to Smithtown Christian.
Meanwhile, Shelter Island's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their ninth straight defeat. They took a 35-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ross.
Despite the loss, Shelter Island had strong showings from Evan Weslek, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Harrison Weslek, who scored ten points along with five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Weslek grabbed two or more steals.
Bridgehampton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Shelter Island, they dropped their record down to 1-15 with that defeat, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.
Everything went Bridgehampton's way against Shelter Island in their previous meeting back in January as Bridgehampton made off with a 65-44 win. Does Bridgehampton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Shelter Island turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
