Baseball Recap: Portage Wins Going Away Against Michigan City

While Portage put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Michigan City. The Indians were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Wolves. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won seven in a row.

Kodie Young made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Young was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Portage got a massive performance out of Matthew Krostag, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave Krostag a new career-high. Tyler Pirowski was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

Portage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Michigan City only posted an OBP of .192.

Portage's victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

They will have a chance to go back-to-back against Michigan City: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
