Baseball Recap: Gulf Coast Extends Winning Streak to Three

Gulf Coast had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They never let the George Jenkins Eagles get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. This was payback for the Sharks, who suffered a 9-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Not much got past Eric Hermanson, who gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks to keep George Jenkins off the board. Hermanson has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jonathan Kacinas, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI. Jackson Geiger was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Gulf Coast's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for George Jenkins, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gulf Coast will take on Bishop Verot at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for George Jenkins, they will square off against Ridge Community at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
