Basketball Game Preview: Mattoon Greenwave vs. Taylorville Tornadoes

The Mattoon Greenwave and the Taylorville Tornadoes will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mattoon has given up an average of 54 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mattoon is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight games on Tuesday. They took a 69-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Marion.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Taylorville). They put the hurt on Charleston with a sharp 50-30 win on Friday. The Tornadoes not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since January 21st (when they won 53-29).

Taylorville's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3. As for Mattoon, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
