Soccer Game Preview: Texas vs. Marshall

The Texas Tigers will challenge the Marshall Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

Texas is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to five goals on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Mt. Pleasant on Thursday. They fell just short of Mt. Pleasant by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, Texas can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 529th, while Mt. Pleasant is ranked 35th).

Meanwhile, Marshall and Hallsville finished up on equal footing with a 3-3 draw on Thursday.

Texas' defeat dropped their record down to 1-8-1. With that draw, Marshall's record moves to 5-6-3.

Texas got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in February of 2025 against Marshall by a conclusive 5-0 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Mavericks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
