            Softball Recap: Bayside Marlins vs. Tallwood Lions        
        
		
        
        
            Bayside came out on top against Tallwood  on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run third inning. The Marlins put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp  11-3 victory. Considering the Marlins have won five contests by more than seven  runs this season, Tuesday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Kennedy Allen made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  struck out six batters over  five innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   four  hits (and only one walk). That's the most  strikeouts  she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-5 with one  double and one  RBI. That  double was  her first of the season.
 In other pitching news,  Carli Melton looked comfortable as she  tossed two innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks any time she's  pitched this season.

 Back at the plate,  Kayleigh Leeland-Powell was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with one  home run, two  runs,  and two  RBI. Those  two  RBI gave  her a new career-high.  Hannah Kirschman was another key player,  going 2-for-4 with two  runs, two  RBI,  and one  double.
 Bayside  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 12  hits. They are  a perfect 4-0 when  they post 11 or more  hits.
The  win was  the third in a row for Bayside, bringing their record up to 5-8. The  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Tallwood, they have  traveled a rocky road recently, having  lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record  this season.
 Bayside will host Cox  at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The Marlins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 7.5  runs per game this season. As for Tallwood, they will head out to  square off against Landstown  at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
