Softball Game Preview: Redlands Terriers vs. Rim of the World Fighting Scots

The Redlands Terriers will take on the Rim of the World Fighting Scots at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Redlands will be strutting in after a victory while Rim of the World will be coming in after a loss.

Redlands took a loss when they played away from home on March 4th, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Rialto 9-8. The win was some much needed relief for the Terriers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Makayla Mendoza and Sofia Akimoto did most of the damage at the plate: Mendoza scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Akimoto scored a run while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave Mendoza a new career-high. Kierstin Madrid was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Redlands kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Rim of the World was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Excelsior Charter, falling 20-3.

Redlands' victory bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Rim of the World, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5-1.
