Softball Game Preview: Malone Tigers vs. Vernon Yellowjackets

Malone hasn't had much luck against Vernon recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Malone will venture away from home to challenge Vernon at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Tuesday. Malone lost 27-1 to Chipley. Malone's defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Meanwhile, Vernon scored first but ultimately less than Cottondale in their game on Tuesday. They came up short against the Hornets, falling 15-3. The Yellowjackets haven't had much luck with the Hornets recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Vernon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elena Dean, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double. Ava Roche also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Malone, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Vernon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Malone hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. It's a different story for Vernon, though, as they've only averaged .249. Will they be able to contain Malone's hitters?

Malone might still be hurting after the 21-11 loss they got from Vernon in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Malone avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
