Volleyball Recap: Corcoran Panthers vs. Orosi Cardinals

There's no place like home for Corcoran, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They won by a set and slipped past the Orosi Cardinals 3-2. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 3-0 defeat the Cardinals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2023.

Corcoran took Orosi into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. After all that action, the final score was 25-16, 25-27, 21-25, 25-22, 15-13.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Corcoran to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jacqueline Guzman, who had 11 kills, nine digs, and a block. Guzman is also on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in the last 11 games she's played dating back to last season. Priscilla Castillo was another key player, getting seven digs and five aces.

She wasn't the only good server: Corcoran was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 16 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Orosi only served five.

Corcoran has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-10 record this season. As for Orosi, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11-2.

Corcoran will venture away from home to face off against Summit Charter Collegiate Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Orosi, they will square off against Granite Hills at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
