Softball Game Preview: Lisle Lions vs. Chicago Christian Knights

The Lisle Lions will head out to take on the Chicago Christian Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Chicago Christian took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Lisle, who comes in off a win.

While Lions fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Saturday's season opener. They put the hurt on Westmont with a sharp 14-4 victory on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Sentinels: they've now won nine in a row.

McKenna Riley made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lisle let Jaya Claussen and Megan Bradley run wild. Claussen scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Bradley went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Sophie Crescenzo was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Lisle kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 18 runs the game before, Chicago Christian was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They lost 14-2 to Richards.

Chicago Christian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brenna Schaafsma, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Lisle might still be hurting after the 13-2 defeat they got from Chicago Christian in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Can Lisle avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
