The Ocean View Seahawks will head out on the road to take on the Ayala Bulldogs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Ocean View has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with five straight losses, while Ayala will come in with six straight wins.
On Friday, Ocean View didn't have quite enough to beat Cerritos and fell 2-1.
Meanwhile, Ayala made easy work of Diamond Bar on Saturday and carried off an 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Jaden Valenzuela made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one double. Ayala is undefeated when Valenzuela posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise.
In other pitching news, Jayden Kim looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Codey Brown and Dylan Wood did most of the damage at the plate: Brown got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI and two runs, while Wood went 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave Wood a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jonah Boyd, who went 2-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Ayala was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Diamond Bar only posted a batting average of .045.
Ayala pushed their record up to 13-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Ocean View, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-12.
Ocean View couldn't quite finish off Ayala in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Seahawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
