Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Independence). They blew past the La Joya Community Fighting Lobos 49-20 on Tuesday. The Patriots have beaten the Fighting Lobos the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Fighting Lobos has come to flipping the script.

Several Fighting Lobos players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Samaris Pena, who posted 12 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Pena is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 12 games she's played. Destiny Sanchez was another key player, putting up six points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Independence's win bumped their record up to 4-10. As for La Joya Community, they dropped their record down to 4-12 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Independence didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 37-28 defeat against Desert Edge on the 6th. As for La Joya Community, they have also already played their next contest, a 52-43 loss against Metro Tech on the 6th.
