Softball Recap: Crosbyton's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Crosbyton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 14-11 victory over the Lockney Longhorns. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 27, 2021, but that streak is no more.

Araceli Rodriguez made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Rodriguez was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Crosbyton got a massive performance out of Alexis Godinez, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Godinez has been hot, having also posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mila Pesina, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Crosbyton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win snapped Crosbyton's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-7 record. As for Lockney, they now have a losing record of 12-13-1.

Looking ahead, Crosbyton will square off against Borden County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lockney, they will welcome Gruver at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
