Baseball Game Preview: University Cougars vs. Edgewater Eagles

University hasn't had much luck against Edgewater recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cougars will face off against the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Edgewater took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on University, who comes in off a win.

On Thursday, University beat Space Coast 11-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Griffin Elliott was excellent, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Hipp, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

University always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2025.

Meanwhile, Edgewater fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Freedom on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered since March 13, 2025.

Edgewater saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Yusef Charles, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

University's record is now 4-9. As for Edgewater, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11-1.

University couldn't quite get it done against Edgewater in their previous meeting back in March as they fell 4-0. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
