Softball Recap: National Trail Comes Up Short

National Trail was the 9-5 winner over Newton Local when they last played one another back in April of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Blazers came up short against the Indians on Tuesday, falling 13-7. The Blazers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Taylor Reynolds and Carley Hamm did some serious damage despite the final result: Reynolds went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Hamm went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Eva Swartsell, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

National Trail's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Newton Local, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, National Trail will host Union City at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Newton Local, they will venture away from home to square off against Arcanum at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
