Preview: Mansfield Tigers vs. DeSoto Eagles
Mansfield is 1-6 against DeSoto since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Mansfield Tigers will look to defend their home field against the DeSoto Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Mansfield can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Skyline and snuck past 27-25.
Among those leading the charge was Marquise Hubbard, who rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a touchdown.
Meanwhile, DeSoto put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down Duncanville 49-35. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead DeSoto to victory, but perhaps none more so than Darius Bailey, who threw for 268 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Daylon Singleton, who picked up 179 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Mansfield's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for DeSoto, their victory was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-0.
Mansfield came up short against DeSoto when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 28-16. Thankfully for Mansfield, Johntay Cook ii (who picked up 172 receiving yards and three touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
