Softball Recap: Centennial Sets Scoring Season-High Against Bakersfield

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Centennial). They never let the Bakersfield Drillers get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Golden Hawks considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Alex Andersen was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, one run, and one double. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Barboza, who scored three runs while going 4-for-4.

Centennial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Centennial pushed their record up to 8-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bakersfield, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.

Centennial wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 4-3 loss against Madera on the 10th. Hopefully Bakersfield payed attention to the Golden Hawks' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Golden Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
