The Dallas HSAA Red Blue Angels will head out on the road to challenge the North Central Texas Academy Pioneers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with eight consecutive losses dating back to last season for Dallas HSAA Red and three for North Central Texas Academy.
Dallas HSAA Red pushed their score all the way to 72 last Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 82-72 to John Paul II.
Meanwhile, North Central Texas Academy pushed their score all the way to 57 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 70-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Texas Alliance of Christian Athletes. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for North Central Texas Academy in their matchups with Texas Alliance of Christian Athletes: they've now lost three in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Eric Cardenas, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Landin, who scored 17 points.
Dallas HSAA Red dropped their record down to 0-4 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for North Central Texas Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 15-13.
Dallas HSAA Red couldn't quite finish off North Central Texas Academy in their previous matchup back in January and fell 55-52. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of North Central Texas Academy's Kyrylo Nykyforenko, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds.
