Softball Game Preview: Nimitz Vikings vs. MacArthur Cardinals

The Nimitz Vikings are taking a road trip to square off against the MacArthur Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nimitz has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since February 25.

Nimitz came up short against Irving on Wednesday, falling 14-1.

Nimitz saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Almaguer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Those two hits gave Almaguer a new career-high.

Meanwhile, MacArthur had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 25-24 win over Lake Highlands last Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cardinals have posted since February 29, 2024.

Nimitz's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for MacArthur, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-8-1.

Everything went Nimitz's way against MacArthur when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Nimitz made off with an 11-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Nimitz since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
