Softball Game Preview: East Alton-Wood River Oilers vs. Litchfield Purple Panthers

The East Alton-Wood River Oilers will face off against the Litchfield Purple Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. East Alton-Wood River has now lost 11 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 10.

Breese Central hit East Alton-Wood River with a five-run sixth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Oilers came up short against the Cougars, falling 8-2.

East Alton-Wood River saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordan Ealey, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That stolen base was Ealey's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Litchfield lost 8-1 to Greenville on Tuesday. The Purple Panthers haven't had much luck with the Comets recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

East Alton-Wood River's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Litchfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.

East Alton-Wood River skirted past Litchfield 1-0 in their previous matchup back in May of 2017. Will the Oilers repeat their success, or do the Purple Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
