Soccer Game Preview: North Side vs. South Hills

A classic North v. South matchup is on the schedule. The North Side Steers will face off against the South Hills Scorpions at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. North Side's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for 15 straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Having struggled with 14 defeats in a row, North Side turned things around against Polytechnic on Tuesday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was North Side who was credited with the win. North Side got it done in the shootout by posting seven goals to Polytechnic's six.

While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Wyatt who was credited with the victory on Tuesday. Wyatt got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to South Hills' three. While losing is never fun, the Scorpions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while the Chaparrals are ranked 41st).

South Hills' loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-8. As for North Side, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-14-2.

North Side might still be hurting after the 5-0 defeat they got from South Hills in their previous matchup back in February. Can North Side avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
