Baseball Recap: Wilson Central's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Wilson Central dropped their record down to 8-6 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins on the road. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cookeville Cavaliers. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

As for Cookeville, they pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games.

For Cookeville's part, Landen Severance made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Those nine strikeouts gave Severance a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Severance wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was KJ Anderson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Ty Harrison was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Cookeville beat Wilson Central by a score of 9-6 on Wednesday.
