Baseball Game Preview: Schurz Bulldogs vs. Clemente Wildcats

Schurz is 0-4 against Clemente since April of 2018 but things could change on Wednesday. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Schurz has given up an average of 7.3 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Schurz came into their game last Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 16-0 to Clemente. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Bulldogs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

For Clemente's part, Sean Davis was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave Davis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Semaj Beecham, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.

Clemente was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .611. They are 7-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory (which was Clemente's fifth in a row) raised their record to 17-10. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Schurz, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.
