Softball Game Preview: Lakewood Lancers vs. Hemet Bulldogs

The Lakewood Lancers will take on the Hemet Bulldogs at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.

Lakewood easily dispatched Mohave on Saturday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Lakewood fell just short of Highland by a score of 7-5 on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Hemet had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Titans 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted against the Titans since April 17, 2018.

Lakewood has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. Hemet's victory bumped their record up to 8-1.

Lakewood came out on top in a nail-biter against Hemet in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lakewood since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
