Softball Game Preview: Rootstown Rovers vs. Newton Falls Tigers

The Rootstown Rovers will challenge the Newton Falls Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Rootstown's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Newton Falls has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

On Monday, Rootstown made easy work of Lake Center Christian and carried off a 15-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Rovers, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Newton Falls' offense. They lost 15-0 to Champion on Wednesday.

Rootstown is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Newton Falls, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12-1.

Rootstown skirted past Newton Falls 4-3 in their previous matchup back in May of 2022. Will the Rovers repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
