Basketball Game Preview: Kelvyn Park Panthers vs. Wells Raiders

After both having extra time off, the Kelvyn Park Panthers and the Wells Raiders will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Kelvyn Park hasn't scored more than 18 points for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

It was a proper cat-fight when Kelvyn Park faced off against Austin College and Career Academy last Friday. Kelvyn Park came up short against Austin College and Career Academy, falling 38-17.

Meanwhile, Wells hadn't done well against Clemente recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way last Friday. Everything went Wells' way against Clemente as Wells made off with a 44-20 win. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 20 points or more this season.

Wells found their leader in freshman Ashanti Clark, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten boards. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Clark has scored at least a third of Wells' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tamyra Davis, who posted nine points.

Wells pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.7 points per game. As for Kelvyn Park, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-5.

Everything came up roses for Kelvyn Park against Wells in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 51-7 win. Will Kelvyn Park repeat their success, or does Wells have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
