Volleyball Recap: Notre Dame Takes a Loss

If Notre Dame was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of St. Mary's on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Lutheran Cougars by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Notre Dame sadly wound up on the wrong side. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 24-26, 25-22.

Despite the loss, Notre Dame saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Joseph Schwendemann had 17 digs and four assists.

Notre Dame's defeat dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Lutheran, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-7-1.

Coincidentally, Notre Dame and Lutheran will both be playing Saxony Lutheran the next time they take the court. The Cougars will head out to face the Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Bulldogs will host them at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
