Recap: Skaneateles Lakers vs. Marcellus Mustangs
The Skaneateles Lakers lost against the Marcellus Mustangs back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Skaneateles suffered a tough 58-37 loss at the hands of Marcellus. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Skaneateles has scored all season.
Marcellus' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Will Burnett led the charge by scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Burnett also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Will Kershaw, who scored 16 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Skaneateles and nudges their season record down to 2-3. As for Marcellus, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Skaneateles' road trip will continue as they head out to face Red Creek at 2:00 p.m. on December 29th. Marcellus will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against General Brown at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. General Brown will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 549th, while Marcellus is ranked seventh).
