Baseball Game Preview: Rector Cougars vs. Corning Bobcats

The Rector Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Corning Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Corning took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Rector, who comes in off a win.

Rector took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Bay, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cougars sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-10 victory over the Yellowjackets on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since April 17, 2025.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Corning duked it out with Neelyville on Thursday. The Bobcats came up short against the Tigers, falling 16-10. The Bobcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Rector's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-9. As for Corning, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.

Rector suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to Corning in their previous matchup on April 9th. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
