Softball Recap: Pleasant Hill Wolves vs. Seymour Indians

Pleasant Hill proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 11) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Seymour Indians. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Ava Wombles made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Wombles wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ally Neitzel, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Abi Henderson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Pleasant Hill's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Seymour, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pleasant Hill will square off against Carrollton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Seymour, they will face off against Griggsville-Perry at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
