Baseball Game Preview: Brother Martin Crusaders vs. Crowley Eagles

The Brother Martin Crusaders will be taking part in a tournament against the Crowley Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Brother Martin has three straight victories, Crowley has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Thursday, Brother Martin narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Brenham 5-3.

Blaise Tingstrom spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Brother Martin's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Durand, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Luke Gab also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Crowley's offense. They lost 8-0 to Barbe on Thursday.

Brother Martin's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Crowley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Crowley's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Brother Martin has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Crowley, though, as they've been averaging only 2.3 strikeouts. Will Brother Martin keep running through batters, or will the Eagles buck the trend?
