Baseball Recap: Zion Christian Academy Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Zion Christian Academy's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Franklin Christian Academy Falcons. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Falcons back in March, they had to take a 4-3 defeat.

Caleb Rutledge spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up 11 Ks. Zion Christian Academy is 2-1 when Rutledge posts eight or more strikeouts, but 8-11 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Thatcher Looney was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Austin Surratt was another key player, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

Zion Christian Academy's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-12. As for Franklin Christian Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Coming up, Zion Christian Academy will welcome Clarksville Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Franklin Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
