Basketball Game Preview: Waterford Wildcats vs. Hiland Hawks

The Waterford Wildcats will take on the Hiland Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Waterford is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They blew past Fisher Catholic 51-22. The Wildcats are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 14 straight.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Hiland on Thursday. They put the hurt on Green with a sharp 57-35 victory. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Bobcats are ranked 161st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hiland has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.7 points over those games. Waterford's win bumped their record up to 24-1.

Waterford skirted past Hiland 53-51 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will Waterford repeat their success, or does Hiland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
