Softball Game Preview: Blake Yellow Jackets vs. Lennard Longhorns

Blake is 2-7 against Lennard since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets will square off against the Longhorns at 10:00 a.m. One thing working in Blake's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four games.

Blake couldn't beat Leto on Thursday even though they stacked ten runs on them in the fourth inning. The Yellow Jackets lost 23-13 to the Falcons.

A Barcelo and J Feliciano did some serious damage despite the final result: Barcelo got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Feliciano got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was J Williams, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three RBI.

Jefferson hit Lennard with a five-run sixth inning last Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Longhorns came up short against the Dragons, falling 11-1.

Lennard saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kennedy McClain, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Lennard's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Blake, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Lennard's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Blake has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .534. It's a different story for Lennard, though, as they've only averaged .355. Will they be able to contain Blake's hitters?

Blake might still be hurting after the 19-1 defeat they got from Lennard when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Yellow Jackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
