Basketball Recap: Republic Snaps Ten-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Republic entered their match against Central on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Republic Tigers took a 67-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Central Bulldogs. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Tigers came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Bulldogs are ranked 40th).

Republic's defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-2. As for Central, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Republic will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Glendale at 7:00 p.m. on February 4th. As for Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hillcrest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Central is facing Hillcrest at the right time seeing as Hillcrest is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
