Basketball Recap: King's Christian Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

After flying high against Patuxent last Wednesday, King's Christian Academy came back down to earth. The King's Christian Academy Eagles took a 73-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chopticon Braves on Friday. The Eagles were not able to make up for their loss to the Braves from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, King's Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Earl B. Edmonds, who went 11 for 21 on his way to 26 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Edmonds' evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayden Williams, who posted ten points along with eight assists and five steals.

Leading Chopticon to victory were Bryson Fenwick and Brian McMahon. Fenwick dropped a double-double on 21 points and 16 boards, while McMahon dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. Fenwick is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. Tori Carter was another key player, putting up 11 points.

King's Christian Academy moved to 3-7 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Chopticon, their win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-3.

King's Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 73-54 loss against Martinsburg on the 21st. Chopticon and Potomac will round out the year against one another at at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Chopticon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53 points per game this season.
