Softball Recap: Rutland Hurricanes vs. Westside Seminoles
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rutland). They never let the Westside Seminoles onto the board and left with a 15-0 win on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Briley White made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in August. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, a triple, and an RBI.
In other batting news, Rutland got a massive performance out of Addison Payne, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Gracie Newberry, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Rutland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Rutland's win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-11. As for Westside, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Rutland will host Crawford County at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Westside, they will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Jackson at 5:30 p.m.
