Basketball Recap: Rawlins Outlaws vs. Torrington Trailblazers
Rawlins was the 57-53 winner over Torrington when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Rawlins Outlaws fell 63-54 to the Torrington Trailblazers on Friday.
Despite the defeat, Rawlins saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Chris Gonzalez posted 24 points and five assists. Another player making a difference was Lincoln Searle, who scored 13 points.
Leading Torrington to victory were Landre Greiman and Mac Hibben. Greiman went 6 for 10 en route to 20 points, while Hibben dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 rebounds. Those 16 boards gave Hibben a new career-high. Kaleb Booth also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.
Rawlins' loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-10. As for Torrington, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Rawlins will head out to square off against Glenrock at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rawlins is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.3 points per game this season. As for Torrington, they will host Buffalo at 4:30 p.m. on February 8th.
