Basketball Recap: Hay Springs Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Hay Springs had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Cody-Kilgore Cowboys/Cowgirls 56-54. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hawks have posted against the Cowboys/Cowgirls since December 3, 2021.

Hay Springs' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dylan Young, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 11 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. That's the most assists Young has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaron Dahlgren, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds.

Hay Springs' victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Cody-Kilgore, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-3.

Hay Springs will square off against Banner County on Friday. Hay Springs is facing Banner County at the right time seeing as Banner County is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Cody-Kilgore, they will challenge Creek Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
