Recap: Churchill County Greenwave vs. Fernley Vaqueros

They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 61-40 walloping at the hands of the Vaqueros on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Churchill County in their matchups with Fernley: they've now lost nine in a row.
Churchill County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jada Anastasio, who scored 11 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Raegan Johnson, who scored 11 points.
Even though they lost, Churchill County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fernley only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fernley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jasmyne Torres, who scored 16 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was Jaelece Wasson, who scored 14 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Churchill County's defeat dropped their record down to 19-8. As for Fernley, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 28-1.
Churchill County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fernley, they and Lowry will face off at 12:00 p.m. on February 17th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lowry is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
