Basketball Recap: Genoa-Hugo/Karval Takes a Loss

Genoa-Hugo/Karval was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were beaten by the Hanover Hornets 58-27. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Genoa-Hugo/Karval still got an impressive performance from Eddy Franey, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds.

Junior Diaz continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hanover, going 13 for 26 en route to 32 points along with six boards and five steals. The dominant performance gave Diaz a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Decker, who posted eight points and eight rebounds.

Genoa-Hugo/Karval's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Hanover, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-6.

Genoa-Hugo/Karval has already played their next game (against Bethune), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Hanover is taking a road trip to challenge Manzanola at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hanover is facing Manzanola at the right time seeing as Manzanola is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
