Softball Recap: Warhill's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Warhill came tearing into Friday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Grafton Clippers get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-1 back in April.

Not much got past Skyler Wilson, who gave up just seven hits and racked up six Ks to keep Grafton off the board. Wilson has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Warhill's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ellie Jacobs, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Warhill's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Grafton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Warhill is set to take on their familiar foe New Kent at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lions 2.5, the Trojans 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Grafton will square off against rival Lafayette at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
