Calvert came tearing into Monday's match with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-2 on April 4th.

Tucker Coleman tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Calvert's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was AJ Shoemaker, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Gabe Badik also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Calvert's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hopewell-Loudon, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-3.

Calvert didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-5 loss against Van Buren on the 29th. As for Hopewell-Loudon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 7-6 defeat against Lakota on the 30th.
