Softball Game Preview: Evergreen Park Mustangs vs. Stagg Chargers

The Evergreen Park Mustangs will head out to face off against the Stagg Chargers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Stagg took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Evergreen Park, who comes in off a win.

Evergreen Park will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Hillcrest on Thursday. The Mustangs' pitchers stepped up to hand the Hawks a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Stagg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They lost 14-7 to Andrew.

Gabby Janski made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and one double. Another player making a difference was Holly Jirka, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

The victory got Evergreen Park back to even at 13-13. As for Stagg, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-21.

Everything went Evergreen Park's way against Stagg when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Evergreen Park made off with a 17-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
